There is another alternative method of determining how to assist students with reading known as the fluency scale developed by Aulls. This scale is an excellent means of complementing the other methodology advocated in the study. Aulls incorporates elements of expression and phrasing.

A crucial distinction made in this article is the fact that many students can read silently much more expediently than they can read aloud. This information enables instructors to utilize this fact to their advantage by gauging a reader's comprehension with silent reading vs. that of aloud reading. For instance, some children may understand less when they are stumbling through words aloud than they do when they are simply reading to themselves. But most of all this article gives me a some strategies to use to help understand the various reading needs for children. Most of all, it is useful for stratifying different types of readers, which of course pertains to different facets of instructions that they may benefit from.
